Sinéad’s personal journey with Cacao

My journey with ceremonial cacao began in 2021, during a time of deep personal transition. Often referred to as “the food of the gods,” this sacred plant medicine gently found its way into my life – and has remained a consistent, heart-opening companion ever since.

In 2025, I deepened my relationship with Cacao through facilitator training with Cacao Croí, curated by the inspirational Lorraine Hogan (the Wellness Coach). This experience enhanced both my personal practice and the way I now hold space for others.

Today, I offer Cacao Croí ceremonies for both women and mixed groups, either as a standalone experience or beautifully woven together with breathwork. Each ceremony is an invitation to slow down, connect inward, and open the heart in a safe and supportive space.

A Heart-Opening Ritual for Connection and Reflection

Cacao ceremonies offer a gentle and nourishing space to slow down, connect inward, and open the heart.

Ceremonial cacao has been used for centuries in traditional cultures as a sacred plant medicine to support connection, reflection, and emotional openness. In a modern wellbeing setting, cacao is used as a supportive ritual to help us soften, become present, and connect more deeply with ourselves and others.

At Sinéad Carthy Wellbeing, cacao ceremonies are held in a warm, welcoming environment where we can gather, breathe, reflect, and share in a supportive community.

What Is Ceremonial Cacao?

Ceremonial cacao is pure, minimally processed cacao made from the whole cacao bean. Unlike standard chocolate, it retains its natural nutrients and energetic properties.

Cacao contains natural compounds that may support:

• Feelings of calm and emotional openness
• Gentle mood elevation
• Increased focus and clarity
• A sense of warmth and connection

It is often referred to as a heart-opening plant, helping people connect with their emotions and inner wisdom in a gentle and supportive way. The cacao I mainly work with is the beautiful Saoro.

What happens in a Cacao Ceremony?

Each ceremony is slightly different, and tailored to the ceremony, but sessions usually include:

  • A welcoming grounding meditation
  • Intention setting
  • Drinking ceremonial cacao together
  • Guided reflection
  • Quiet journaling or contemplation
  • Optional sharing within the group

The ceremony creates a peaceful space where you can step away from daily responsibilities and reconnect with yourself.

Why Combine Cacao and Breathwork?

Cacao and breathwork work beautifully together.

Cacao gently supports emotional openness and connection, while breathwork helps release tension and regulate the nervous system.

Together they can help you:

  • Feel more present in your body
  • Release stress and emotional tension
  • Connect with your heart and intuition
  • Deepen your experience of reflection and insight

The experience is always carefully guided and paced at a level that feels safe and supportive.
